Accounting analytics exposes MAcc students to the role of data in accounting and the information technology tools and techniques used by accountants and auditors to produce more timely and accurate reports. Topics include advanced Excel, data modeling, statistical sampling and cluster analysis, business intelligence, and XBRL generation and analysis. The course will cover data analytics covering four major themes: financial reporting, performance evaluation, audit analytics, and tax. Each theme will include hands-on instruction using commercial and open source software and requires students to complete a related data analysis project. Prerequisite: BUSACC 1236.
